A great time with mom at the Washington,Dc Zoo

So today mom and I took a trip to the zoo and here are some of the pictures that came out good, or so I think. Shooting through thick glass is no easy task, i once was told to put the lens right up to the glass so u dont get a reflection and if using a flash it should be held off of the camera for better lighting.

Waterfall's in New York

If you want to photograph waterfalls the place to go is Watkins Glen State Park in New York. It's part of the finger lakes region and very easy to get to, use google. For a modest  fee of 7 dollars you get to walk along a path which follows a river cascading down into at lease 10 spectacular waterfalls, a photographers dream. If you do go show up early to avoid crowds and to catch the early sunlight as afternoon specular light is to hard.
Also another half hour away in Ithaca New York their are more waterfall I will blog these location at a later date. Gary

Happy 4th from Columbia,Md

When taking pictures of fireworks try blending them together in adobe photoshop, screen blend mood  works the best

July 4th Fireworks on the Mall in Washington D.C. 2011

Once in your photographic life if you can get their it's really worth coming to Washington, D.C. to photograph the fireworks on July 4th. When taking pictures of fireworks (use a tripod)set your camera to manual use a shutter speed somewhere from 1 to 3 or 4 seconds and walk in the right f-stop going up or down till you get the sky dark enough....

Damselfly by the Water

If you go by most any river or lake you will find at the river's edge these flying insects called Damselflies. They are smaller versions of Dragonflies. Most are not longer than 5 cm ( 2 inches), and some have brilliant color almost like neon lights. Don't worry they don't bite but they are very easy to disturb, so just move slow when you try to take a picture. These pic's were taken without a tripod but I plan on trying to get a better shots with a tripod to reduce camera shake...
